Guided by love for learning and a framework rooted in cognitive science, we believe the following:

Meet the L4L Team
Carina has over 15 years of experience tutoring across all grades, subjects, and ability levels. She earned her B.Sc. in cognitive science from the University of Toronto and became particularly interested in mathematics education while earning her M.Ed. at OISE. As a graduate student she was surprised to discover how prevalent math-related anxiety is in not only students, but educators as well. Leading a math fundamentals course for teacher candidates validated her research findings and further bolstered her commitment to improving math education at all levels.
Since graduating, Carina has been involved in classroom teaching, educational leadership, and running math intervention programs. Coming from the independent schooling system, she is experienced with individualized education and has worked with a wide range of neurodivergent learners. Carina recognizes that regardless of a student’s unique set of challenges—whether it be autism, ADHD, dyscalculia, or traumatic educational experiences—two things are always true: numeracy is important, and everyone can improve as a mathematician.
Carina founded Learning 4 Learning to share her passion for math education and help students, teachers, parents, and schools develop their mathematical toolkits. She hopes others will come to view math not as an arduous, required subject in school, but as a beautiful process that opens cognitive doors and better equips us to understand the world.
